Daily Platform Check
HIRERS RESPONSIBILITY
You must carry out a Daily Service Check and Inspection both before and after using the Work Platform. This must include the following items:
- The Platform structure and the Walkways to be completely clean and free from grease and dirt.
- The pneumatic tyres, where fitted, to be at the correct pressure and free from damage.
- The wheel nuts to be in place and properly tightened.
- The brakes should be tested to ensure efficient working.
- Lights and audible warning when fitted, to be in working order.
- There should be adequate fuel, water and oil in any internal combustion engine. Use only clean containers for re-fuelling.
- Batteries to be secure, clean, free from corrosion and check for water level before use and before re-charging.
- Batteries should be recharged after each working period for a minimum of 10 hours per working day. All electric machines have built in battery charges to facilitate this important requirement. Before charging batteries ensure correct voltage setting i.e. 110 volts or 220 volts and charging lead is less than 7.5m (25ft). If through a transformer, that this is adequate for supply and it is not usually advisable to charge more than one Platform per transformer. Never operate Platform with charger plugged in. Always disconnect lead before moving Platform.
- All structural parts to be free from cracks and damage.
- Power mechanisms for telescoping, raising, lowering, slewing and steering to be in good working order.
- Check hydraulic oil level and ensure hydraulic system is free from leaks.
- Any communication system between Platform and ground level to be in working order whilst operating the Work Platform.
If when carrying out your Daily Inspection or whilst operating the Work Platform, you discover any defects. YOU MUST STOP AND REPORT THEM AT ONCE TO YOUR SUPERVISOR.
Any damage resulting from misuse, neglect and/or vandalism is chargeable.
NOTE: When carrying out your Inspection do not go under a raised Boom or Platform for any purpose, unless movement has first been prevented by means of blocks, or the machine has been ‘scotched’ to prevent movement by special locking devices fitted for the purpose. |
