IPAF Training Classifications
Scissor Lifts (SL): Self propelled "X" scissor action and sigma type vertical platforms.
Vertical Personnel Platform (VPP): Static or mobile MEWP which elevates using a vertical type mast (training covers the hazards faced with both options)
Self Propelled Boom (SPB): Self propelled telescopic or articulated MEWP capable of being driven at height, of rotating and providing the user with outreach.
Vehicle Mounted Platform up to 26m (VMP 26): MEWP mounted and driven from a chassis with outriggers going up to a maximum of 26 metres (working height).
Vehicle Mounted Platform over 26 m (VMP 100): MEWP mounted and driven from a chassis with outriggers going over a maximum of 26 metres (working height).
Insulated Aerial Device (IAD): Any MEWP manufactured with specially insulated sections of boom or scissor pack for the purpose of electrical insulation.
Trailer/Push Around (TP): MEWP capable of being manually or mechanically placed in position. A self propelled boom machine with outriggers which must be deployed before elevating falls into this catagory.
NOTE: applicants trained on VMP 100 or IAD automatically qualify for VMP 26.
